Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how UwU Live collects, uses, and shares information when you use the UwU Live app and related services. UwU Live is a general social, video, creator, and live-streaming platform. By using UwU Live, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
Account information: email address, username, display name, profile photo, bio, and password credentials (stored as authenticated hashes by the platform auth system — UwU Live cannot view your raw password). Profile information: bio text, social links, custom links, and creator category you choose to share. User-generated content: posts, videos, photos, comments, community posts and comments, direct messages, live-stream content, PK Battle participation, Multi-Live participation, and music/audio uploads where supported. Messages: direct message content, media attachments, and conversation metadata. Live interactions: live session participation, live chat messages, viewer presence, and host/guest activity. Device and technical information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and standard request/log information. Usage information: content you view, interactions (likes, comments, follows, saves), navigation patterns, and feature usage. Transaction information: UwU purchase records, gift records, tip records, payout requests, and earnings ledger entries. Creator information: creator earnings balances, payout method details, tax status, and monetization settings. Verification information: age verification status, identity verification status, official creator verification status, and tax onboarding status (status results and provider references — not the underlying identity documents, which are processed by the verification provider). Moderation and report information: reports you submit, reports about your content, enforcement actions taken, appeal records, and audit logs. Support communications: information you provide when contacting support.
How we use information
We process information to: provide and operate UwU Live (accounts, feed, profiles, content hosting, communities); authenticate you and maintain account security; personalize content, recommendations, and functionality; enable messaging and conversations; operate live streaming, PK Battles, Multi-Live, and related features; process UwU purchases and virtual-currency transactions; calculate and process creator earnings and payouts; prevent fraud, abuse, and manipulation of financial and engagement systems; enforce Community Guidelines and safety rules; review reports and take moderation action; provide customer support; comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations; and improve and develop the service. We do not use your private direct message content to build advertising profiles or sell to third parties.
SMS verification and phone numbers
If you provide a phone number for SMS verification — for example while applying to the UwU Live Agent & Agency Program, or when changing the phone number on an application — we collect the phone number you enter, the country calling code you select, and the verification status of that number. We use it to send a one-time verification code, to confirm that you control the number, to prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep your application records accurate. Codes are delivered through our SMS provider, Twilio, which processes your phone number and the message content only to deliver the message on our behalf. We do not use your phone number for marketing. We do not send promotional or marketing text messages. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not display your phone number to other users. You can stop SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by asking UwU Live support to remove your number; reply HELP for help. If you opt out, we can no longer text you a verification code, so we may not be able to complete a step that requires phone verification.
Third-party services
UwU Live uses third-party providers to operate the service, including: payment processors for UwU purchases (currently Stripe, operating in test/sandbox mode); payout providers for creator withdrawals (currently Stripe Connect, operating in test/sandbox mode); identity and age verification providers (third-party services that collect and process identity documents — UwU Live receives verification status results and provider references, not the underlying documents); hosting and storage providers for content and data; live-streaming and video infrastructure providers; notification delivery providers for push and email notifications; and analytics providers. These providers process information under their own privacy policies and as our service providers under contract. UwU Live does not transfer personal information to third parties for their own advertising purposes.
Data sharing
UwU Live does not sell your personal information. We may share information with: service providers who perform functions on our behalf (hosting, payments, payouts, verification, notifications, analytics) under contract and instructed to use data only as directed; payment and payout providers as needed to process transactions and withdrawals; verification providers as needed to process age or identity verification; legal authorities when required by law, court order, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of UwU Live, our users, or others; and safety and fraud-prevention partners where applicable. We do not share your private direct messages with other users except the participants of the conversation. Aggregate or anonymized information may be shared for analytics and service improvement in a form that does not identify individuals.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we retain certain records as required for financial, tax, fraud-prevention, safety, moderation, and legal obligations — these records are separated from your deleted public identity. Specifically: financial, transaction, payout, and tax records are retained for accounting and legal compliance; moderation, enforcement, report, appeal, and audit records are retained for safety and compliance; verification status records may be retained to prevent bypass. Public-facing content (profile, posts, comments, live history) is anonymized or removed. The specific retention periods for each category require a finalized retention schedule — flagged for legal review. Some information may be stored in backups for a limited disaster-recovery period.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can: update profile information from your profile or Settings; request account deletion from Settings → Delete Account; and contact support for other privacy requests. Users in the European Union, United Kingdom, and California may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including rights to access, portability, objection, and restriction. Response timeframes and verification requirements for these requests depend on your jurisdiction and require final legal review. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may decline or limit requests where retaining information is required by law or for safety and fraud prevention.
Children and minors
UWU Live is an exclusively 18+ social media and live-streaming platform. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to create an account or access our platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using UwU Live in violation of this policy, please contact support. We remove known underage accounts and require all users to provide their date of birth at registration.
Security
UwU Live takes reasonable measures to protect information using industry-standard practices appropriate to the type of data and the associated risk. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information. We use authenticated password hashing (we cannot view your raw password), access controls on sensitive entities, and service-side authorization for financial and enforcement operations. This description is not a guarantee and does not create any legal obligation. We do not disclose specific technical security measures that could create unnecessary risk.
Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced through the app or other reasonable notice. The 'Last updated' date at the bottom of this document indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of UwU Live after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
